Yesterday I volunteered at the Hill Country Ride for AIDS. I go to cheer people on and direct them around a turn that was 6 miles from the finish line. The ridrs that I directed had already biked 39-59 mile, so they were so exausted. It didn't help that it was sunny and in the 90's all day! Other than cheering on the riders through a tough part of their ride, my favorite part of this weekend was to see Austin's beautiful hill country. The base of the ride was at Krause Springs and It was so fun to walk around and see the water! I also was also stationed right next to a century plant that was preparing to bloom; you don't see that every day! Overall, the day was so successful and fun. It was amazing to see all of the dedicated riders who came out to support AIDS!

This morning was Coins for Cancer. It is the day where both Texas 4000 teams (this summer and next summer) get together and panhandle all around Austin. It was my first time ever panhandling and it was a blast! It was amazing to see the generosity of people who were just driving by! One of our signs said "Honk if you hate cancer" and it was so awesome how many people would slam on their horns! Even though we had to make new signs becaue the first ones got rained on, it was so much fun! I also learned that in Texas, it can be raining even when the sun is out, how is that even possible?!

I am taking a break from volunteering for a while until May 30th when the 2015 team leaves fo their amazing journey!
